Top Ten Tuesday Halloween Reads

Top Ten Tuesday Halloween Reads with book covers, pumpkins, and a spider web background.

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl with a new prompt each week. This week’s prompt is Halloween Freebie. For this, we each picked 5 books we’ve read that fit into a Halloween Reads category.

What are your favorite Halloween Reads?

Alyssa

This October I immersed myself in five Halloween-inspired books. The Ten Thousand Doors of January has been on my bookshelf for quite some time and I’m really glad I finally read it. I read Bride and That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon thanks to Meagan’s suggestions (Bride Review and TTT: Escape). I loved them both. Not even sure how I came across Lauren Connolly’s Casual Magic series, but the first two books were super cute.

Oh, I’m so glad you liked both of them!

Unlike Alyssa, I’ve been in a reading slump, so I didn’t read all of these this month, but these are some books I’ve enjoyed in this “freebie” category. The Fake Mate, because werewolves. Anxious People is a mystery of sorts and written beautifully by Backman. Vicious is an amazing paranormal thriller. Gone Girl is a favorite from when I was younger and I think they did a great job with the movie – reading a book and then watching the movie is always so fun to me. Recursion is a suspenseful one I couldn’t put down and remains one of my favorites from book club.

  1. I wouldn’t have thought about Anxious People in this context, but Gone Girl & Recursion are definitely suspense thrillers with a scary edge! Horror is a very minor part of my reading, so I spotlit horror/suspense movies this go-round.

  2. Recursion looks like a good read.

  3. That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon was a lot of fun.

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

  4. I’ve wanted to read Vicious for a long time now. I’ve wanted to read Bride too although I think I heard mixed opinions about it, but I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂

  5. ANXIOUS PEOPLE and RECURSION are two I’ve loved as well. Blake Crouch’s books are great for this time of year!

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

  6. That Time I Saved A Demon, Ten Thousand Doors& Anxious People are ones I’ve really enjoyed! I have read something else by Blake Crouch but I am unsure if I want to read more by him.
