Alyssa’s reading goals.

I had a lot going on in May and decided to cut myself some slack on my 2024 reading goals and challenges. I mostly stuck to books that wouldn’t offer a lot of surprises or emotions. Which means Meagan is still waiting on me to read Funny Story for our joint book review!

The focus for my May reading goals, was to finish my Jane Austen Retelling towards my category challenge, and a book published in 2016 for the ICYMI challenge. I should have also read two other books towards my category challenge. I’ll just have to make those up later. Oops.

Favorite Book

Book cover art for The Bird and the Sword by Amy Harmon.
Category Challenge
  • Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld – Jane Austin Retelling

(I have discovered that I am NOT a fan of Jane Austen Retellings. I’m glad that part of my challenge is over.)

ICYMI Challenge
  • The Bird and the Sword by Amy Harmon – Published in 2016

This ended up as my favorite book of the month. It was such a pleasant surprise. Check out my review here.

Sometimes it amazes me how much the defining parts of our lives hinge on chance.

Curtis Sittenfeld – Eligible: A Modern Retelling of Pride and Prejudice

I was only limited by my ignorance, by my fear, and by my own sense of right and wrong.

Amy Harmon – The Bird and the Sword

In June, I plan to read all the on hold library books coming available soon, four books towards my category challenge (now that I have some catching up to do!), a book published in 2017, and Funny Story (I promise Meagan!!).
