Alyssa’s 2025 Reading Goals

Number of Books:

Reading Goals:

My top goal this year is actually to read less. Instead, I want to put more effort into my other hobbies. I’ve set a goal of 10 books a month, with a limit of 13 books. That reduces my annual goal from 150 in 2024 to 120 in 2025.

One caveat… audiobooks don’t count toward my number since I can listen to them while I do those other hobbies.

Every Month:
  • Read three non-romance books – Like last year, I want to branch out from my usual go to of contemporary romance. Four of the books I read each month should not be a romance.
  • Read one nonfiction – I have a long list I’ve been compiling (and purchasing).
  • Read one RBF selected book – Meagan and I have so much doing our joint reviews, I’d like to be more consistent this year.
  • Re-read an old favorite – There are some books that I’ve been anxious to read a second time to see if they still have the same effect on me. I’ve created a bracket to track those reads throughout the year.
  • Read one book I missed in 2024 – I have another bracket for books released in 2024 that I wish I’d read.

Reminders to Myself:
  • Embrace the DNF – If I’m limiting the number of books I read, there is no excuse for finishing something I’m not enjoying.
  • Tackle my shelves – Read books I’ve already purchased to accomplish above goals wherever possible.
  • Only the best – Only purchase books I know I’ll reread.
  • Make the most of Plus – I finally caved and got StoryGraph Plus. Meagan gave me the idea to use tags for better tracking. I spent HOURS getting it ready after that suggestion. The charts are amazing.
RBF Goals:
  • Be more active – I want to post more on social media (which I avoid in my personal life). I’m aiming for 8 posts a month; 5 currently reading, 3 ad hoc.
  • Write more reviews – I’m awful about adding reviews in StoryGraph. Time to do that more and longer review posts here. (I like Meagan’s idea of doing it for all 4 stars and above.)
  • Give in to Meagan – This all started because Meagan begged me to do a podcast with her. It’s time to test that out. Maybe. I’m like 70% ready to commit.
