Did you expect a Book Haul from DC Bookstores?! I know I always say I am going to attempt to buy less books, but listen…if work is going to make me leave the comfort of my home I need to cope somehow. Work brought me to DC for a few days during a snowstorm (see non-book photos below). I love DC so much. My work friend, that I was lucky enough to meet there, also loves books, so this was honestly the best scenario. We really made the most of it!
Sunday, before the snow came, we visited Kramers and I purchased the following books. Unrelated, but we had dinner Sunday at Thai Chef and it was amazing.
- My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh – I had a friend recommend this to me and am glad I finally picked it up
- Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler – the work friend I was with recommend this one.
- Starter Villain by John Scalzi – I’ve never seen this one, but I love a good villain and I couldn’t resist that cat cover art.
- I also got their sticker – I’m going to try and get one from the independent bookstores I visit!
After our conference was done Tuesday, we visited Solid State Books and I failed at resisting these.
- Blackouts by Justin Torres – we both got this and decided to do a mini book club for it. I hope to do a review on it soon! It looks super interesting.
- The Emporium by Olga Tokarczuk. This book won the Noble Prize in Literature and sounds scary and interesting.
- I also got a sticker and the cutest bookmark (I love Valentine’s Day cuteness).
Photos are:
- Solid State Book’s beautiful shelves.
- Kramer’s book stacks.
- A book at Busboys and Poets (amazing food and awesome book selection) that I need to lookup.
- The cutest candles at Kramer’s – I sent this to Alyssa. Why didn’t I buy us some?!
- Did I mention I love DC – these row homes were so cute.
- Snow and slush. Walking around was fun!
