  1. The Absoarka mountains from Happiness for Beginners by Katherine Center really spoke to my desire for doing some backpacking hikes. (I stick to campers with beds, running water, and air conditioning nowadays.) I would love to visit the little glade they came across and spent an off day in.
  2. I’ve always wanted to visit Alaska, but The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker makes me want to take a plane tour and hit that little cabin they were forced to spend the night in. I love the idea of some wilderness exploration.
  3. Just like Alaska, Scotland is on my bucket list. Loren Brae in The Enchanted Highland series by Tricia O’Malley sounds so fun to visit. Between the loch, the castle, and the pub, I could absolutely spend some time there.
  4. I’m more of a lake and mountains girl, but Shipped by Angie Hockman may have sold me on a tropical cruise. Their cruise to the Galapagos islands included water sports, hikes, and animal encounters.
  5. The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern created wonderful imagery throughout the book. I loved the description of the starless sea and Zachary’s wanderings through the various halls and endless doors. I would love to explore there.

  1. Carley Fortune’s Meet Me at the Lake takes place primarily on Prince Edward Island in Canada at a lake resort. I love lakes and this resort sounded fantastic!
  2. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern: Unpopular opinion, but I hated this book. My review was “So much for nothing.”. However, I would love to visit the magical circus. So, points to the book for that.
  3. The cafe in Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. Just for the vibes, the coffee, and the people.
  4. The Summer Job by Lizzy Dent is set in Scottish hotel with outstanding wine and hilarious staff. I’d like to stay there and explore the surrounding area.
  5. I want to visit the island and meet all the magical beings from The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. This book gave me such a sense of the characters and setting and it seems equal parts magical and beautiful. (Full review here)
