Meagan’s 2025 Reading Goals

Follow my progress on StoryGraph!

Meagan’s reading goals and challenges.

Number of Books:

Reading Goals:

  • Last year I said I’d read a book a week – I ended up reading 53 books, but I am consistently inconsistent. This year, I’m just going to accept that I encounter slumps, but aim to read an average of 1 book per week.
  • I do my best to mix up the genres I read and am trying to be more intentional with variety again this year. My goal is to not have any genre be more than 50% of my total reads. I’m going to utilize StoryGraph Plus and add genre tags to keep track of this (I’m excited for this!)
  • I’m also going to repeat a goal from last year and read at least five books written before the 2000s, two of which should be classics. Some books I’m considering for the classics goal are:
    • Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen first published in 1813
    • Little Women by Louisa May Alcott first published in 1868
    • 1984 by George Orwell – first published in 1949
    • Sula by Toni Morrison – first published in 1973
    • Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe – first published in 1958
  • I also participate in my Library’s yearly reading challenge, which happens to be a goal of 25 books this year.

Book Buying Goals:

Unrelated to reading goals – I am also attempting to buy less books this year (this is laughable). The following are the only exceptions:

  • If the book is for an RBF review.
  • If I am traveling and find a local bookstore – and I must buy a sticker for the store if they have one.

Tracking/RBF Goals:

  • Quit goodreads for tracking – I prefer StoryGraph and want to support a smaller, bookish company. I’l still post reviews to goodreads to support the authors.
  • Add my own genre tags in StoryGraph so I can track the genre and book 1:1 rather than multiple genres for each book.
  • Rate each fiction book I read – and write quick reviews on StoryGraph for anything 4 stars and up.
  • Post more regularly to our social pages – and keep up with posting our reviews on StoryGraph and Pinterest.
